“Home of the free because of the brave.” We are working with Wreaths Across America (“WAA”) for the 7th year to remember our fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve and teach the value of freedom.
J.B. Hunt and the entire trucking industry are proud to be a resource to this mission, safely delivering and handling the transportation of 2,200,000 wreaths to more than 2,100 cemeteries across the United States, Luxemburg and the Netherlands. We are especially proud of the 68 J.B. Hunt drivers delivering wreaths in 2020.
“Without our trucking companies, Wreaths Across America would cease to exist. They are our partners in this great mission to remember, honor and teach,” said Rob Worcester, WAA trucking coordinator.
Starting in 1992, Morrill Worcester of Worcester Wreath Company made a surplus of wreaths around the holidays. He wanted to use that surplus to honor the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and placed the wreaths at the oldest sections of Arlington National Cemetery. In 2007, the non-profit Wreaths Across America was formed and the mission of “Remember. Honor. Teach.” began to be carried through the country by volunteers, veterans and the Worcester family. Aligning with one of J.B. Hunt’s pillars of giving, veteran support, we began our participation and were happy to lend our resources to this important organization.
With the safety of our drivers in mind and precautions in place, we are carefully executing key exchange ceremonies and runs across the country with drivers who will ultimately join in honoring our fallen heroes during National Wreaths Across America Day on December 19.
We will be holding a small ceremony at our corporate headquarters in Lowell, Arkansas on Friday, December 18. We will adhere to CDC guidelines and will maintain a small group size, but we will be broadcasting the event live on our J.B. Hunt Drivers Facebook page so that others may attend virtually.
