Driving Education: J.B. Hunt’s Adopt-a-Class Program

At J.B. Hunt, we work hard to put our people at the forefront of everything we do. Part of how we show this for our drivers is through our annual Adopt-a-Class program.
This program empowers our drivers to directly enrich their communities and their children by nominating classrooms to receive donations for school supplies and classroom resources. Keep reading to learn about the far-reaching impact our drivers have made through Adopt-a-Class!
What is Adopt-a-Class?
J.B. Hunt’s Adopt-a-Class program was founded in 2013, and for more than 10 years our drivers have been nominating their child’s or grandchild’s classroom to receive school supply donations. This year, J.B. Hunt has donated $60,000 to 60 classrooms across the country.
Thanks to the input from our drivers, J.B. Hunt has donated $333,250 worth of school supplies to 350 classrooms through Adopt-a-Class nominations since the program was founded.
J.B. Hunt Drivers Deliver
Investing in our people – in our drivers – is part of the foundations of our company, and we’re serious about following through. As a say-do company, we believe that listening to our drivers and trusting them is one of the best ways we can deliver on that commitment and show them the appreciation they deserve.
Catherine, a Dedicated Contract Services® driver, nominated her daughter’s classroom this year. When her nomination was chosen, she got to personally deliver the classroom supplies to her daughter’s teacher, Ms. Franklin.
“I think companies like J.B. Hunt really contribute a lot to city schools,” Catherine said. “When we have sponsors like J.B. Hunt, our kids are able to get more of the educational materials they need for the classroom.”
In addition to school supply donations, students in Ms. Franklin’s classroom had a rare opportunity to speak with a truck driver and explore the cab of a truck. For Catherine, seeing their excitement made her day.
“It was fun,” Catherine said. “It was pretty exciting getting to see the kids and how happy everyone got, especially getting in the truck.”
To Ms. Franklin, receiving donations for her classroom and being recognized for her efforts by a parent meant a lot.
“When I got the message that our classroom was chosen, I jumped out of my chair, and I had to go tell my co-teacher the good news,” she said. “I’ve never had a parent nominate our classroom for anything like this, so it really meant a lot that it came from someone outside of our building who really noticed what we were doing.”
