Does J.B. Hunt hire CDL-A students?
While most of our company driving jobs require at least three months of Class A experience, we have an apprenticeship program that provides paid on-the-job training to recent CDL-A graduates.
What is the J.B. Hunt Apprenticeship Program?
Drivers hired into this program train alongside a J.B. Hunt driver trainer for six weeks, learning about our safety culture, how to run their lanes and more. Upon successful completion of their training, drivers have an opportunity to transition to a traditional driving position within our Dedicated Contract Services®, Intermodal or Final Mile Services® fleets.
Apprenticeship Program drivers are J.B. Hunt employee drivers from day one, granting them access to a variety of comprehensive benefit coverage options.
Does J.B. Hunt have CDL-A schooling?
While we do not have CDL-A schooling, we encourage you to fill out our student interest form or look into our Delivery Installation Specialist jobs that involve delivering and assembling household items and do not require a Class A license.
How much experience do I need after I get my CDL-A?
We require at least three months of post-training CDL-A driving experience for jobs in our Intermodal and Dedicated Contract Services business units unless you join our team through our Apprenticeship Program.
While we do not have CDL-A jobs for inexperienced drivers, we have Final Mile Services® (FMS) driving jobs open in select locations that do not require a Class A license or commercial driving experience. These FMS driving jobs involve making deliveries in box trucks, so a CDL is not needed.
Does J.B. Hunt offer training?
We offer six weeks of paid on-the-job training with one of our experienced driver trainers through our Apprenticeship Program. While we do not offer training for those without a Class A license, once you get your experience and join J.B. Hunt, you can expect a culture of continued learning. Safety is one of our top priorities, and we are always looking for ways to get better as a fleet.
What are the age requirements?
We require drivers to be at least 21 years old.
