Safety is important to everything we do at J.B. Hunt – it’s one of our core values. We make sure to invest in our people at every level, and part of that is making sure that all of our drivers and driver managers receive Smith System training and innovative safety technology, including sideguard assist and lane departure warnings. Along with the diligence of our drivers, embracing initiatives that make us safer has led to two back-to-back years of record safety performance at J.B. Hunt. 

In addition to ongoing training, our maintenance technicians are among the best in the industry and work hard to maintain our fleet of company-owned equipment and keep drivers safe on the road. 

For Christopher, a mobile technician, part of excelling in his career is supporting drivers on the road. 

“You’re helping drivers because they’ll pull up with problems, so you get them fixed and get them on the road,” he said. “J.B. Hunt is very good at leading. I think they lead the industry in safety matters. I’ve had trailers where I said, ‘This is unsafe,’ and my boss has downed them completely until we can make it safe because I don’t want to have the driver get in a wreck.” 

Nick Hobbs, chief operating officer at J.B. Hunt, says that a huge part of the driver support we’re able to offer is the skill and excellence of our company’s maintenance technicians.
