Thirty-five years ago, a J.B. Hunt driver hauled the first intermodal load in our company’s history. Thirty-five years later, our drivers have continued to trailblaze and have helped us grow to be the largest intermodal provider in North America.

What is Intermodal Trucking?

You can find loads of career opportunities with J.B. Hunt’s driving jobs, but some of the most popular jobs out there are intermodal driving jobs. These jobs typically involve picking up shipping containers in railyards and making deliveries to customers.

But nothing exemplifies our drivers’ safety expertise more than our five-million-mile safe drivers – who are all J.B. Hunt Intermodal drivers. Combined, these three drivers have more than 100 years of industry experience and have driven over 15 million safe miles. 

Phil made headlines when he first reached this incredible milestone in 2019. As the first J.B. Hunt driver to hit five million safe miles, Phil was the first driver to have accumulated $125,000 in Million Mile Bonuses.

For Phil, being a part of this team helped him achieve such a rare milestone – the freight capacity with J.B. Hunt kept him busy and running as often as he wanted.

Since then, two more drivers have followed in Phil’s footsteps. Intermodal drivers Tony and Chuck broke records of their own and joined the prestigious group of J.B.
