J.B. Hunt Driving Jobs
Getting started in the transportation industry may seem hard, but it doesn’t have to be. Anais is a local intermodal driver with J.B. Hunt, but she first started out on the warehousing side of the supply chain.
“I graduated high school, and I did not continue going to college. I had no interest in it,” she said. “I just got into the workforce, in warehousing … I got paid for schooling for trucking, graduated trucking school, got my license and started applying.”
For her, choosing the right company to drive with was an important decision. After getting her Class A license, it wasn’t long before she started driving with the J.B. Hunt Apprenticeship Program.
“I was only looking at companies that I knew that I would be taken care of. I would obviously be out in my personal vehicle, driving on the roads, and I’m just like, ‘Who would I feel comfortable driving for?’” she said. “I worked for an online retailer, and just seeing the heavy traffic that would come in and out of the company, I would see J.B. Hunt there all the time.”
After getting the call from J.B. Hunt, Anais began working with driver trainers in our Apprenticeship Program and learning about our safety culture.

Safety is something we take very seriously at J.B. Hunt. We have worked hard for years to cultivate a culture that values safety and values our people. For our driving jobs, a big way we show that is through the driver training available with our apprenticeships.
Anais says that the training she received through this program has been invaluable to her.
“The trainers were just incredible,” she said. “They got me from not knowing how to hook onto the kingpin to knowing how to hook onto it, raise the landing gear safely, move the container safely and park it. And six weeks later, I was on my own on these roads, just by myself, me and the truck.”
Drivers in our Apprenticeship Program are employees from day one, which means they have access to all the employee driver benefits they are eligible for, safety bonuses and service programs and everything else we have available to our drivers.
To Anais, the career opportunities she had at J.B. Hunt have made a huge impact on her life.
“J.B. Hunt gave me an opportunity, gave me a chance and here I am now,” she said. “I’m a very strong individual, but when I know that something changed in my life for the better, I’ll forever be grateful.”
