Does J.B. Hunt Require Experience?

Your guide to experience requirements for J.B. Hunt driving jobs.

The short answer is, yes. We do require at least three months of CDL-A experience for our Dedicated, Intermodal and Truckload divisions. However, if you have less than the required amount of experience, don’t worry– we still have options for you.

Class A license and 3 or more months of experience:
Congratulations, you meet our hiring requirements! We require that those interested in our Class A driving jobs have a minimum of three-months CDL-A experience. If you or someone you know meets these requirements, give us a call at 1-877-791-9458! A recruiter would be happy to speak with you about driving jobs open in your area.

Class A license and less than 3 months of experience:
You have your Class A license, so you’re halfway there! Your next step is to go out and get CDL-A driving experience. Safety is a top priority at J.B. Hunt, so we want drivers to be comfortable behind the wheel before they join our elite group of drivers. Once you gain at least three months of experience, find your ideal job using our Job Search tool.

No CDL-A license:
You may be thinking, “What if I don’t have a Class A license?” That’s where our non-CDL Final Mile Services driving jobs come in. Our Delivery Installation Specialist jobs consist of making deliveries in a box truck and do not require a CDL-A license. With these customer-facing jobs, there’s less sitting behind the wheel and more hands-on work. Delivery Installation Specialists install large items such as appliances, furniture and fitness equipment. No installation or driving experience? No problem! We offer our drivers a four-day Final Mile Services® orientation and six weeks of paid installation training with a delivery installation specialist trainer.

License other than Class A:
If you have a Class B, C, or any other class of license, you will be eligible for our CDL-A jobs when you upgrade your license to Class A and gain three or more months of experience. However, J.B. Hunt does not have a CDL school or offer CDL training to new drivers. If you do not wish to upgrade your license, then our non-CDL driving jobs are for you.

If you need a job that’ll improve your life, we may have the perfect CDL-A or non-CDL driving job for you. Give our recruiters a call at 1-877-791-9458 or fill out our short pre-qual to learn more about jobs open near you!
