Each year, we are proud to cheer on J.B. Hunt drivers as they compete in the Arkansas Trucking Championship, and this year was no exception. We are proud to have supported 25 J.B. Hunt drivers from our Intermodal, Dedicated Contract Services® and Final Mile Services® business units this year!
These drivers are truly exceptional in their safety records, having driven a combined total of more than 25 million safe miles with countless safe driving awards. Keep reading to learn about the competition and awards for these J.B. Hunt driver champions!
How do drivers qualify for the National Truck Driving Competition?
Drivers who are eligible to compete in the National Truck Driving Championship are selected as winners in eligible state truck driving competitions held across the country. In addition to being selected as a state winner, drivers competing in the national competition must also have a safe driving record for the last year.
We are incredibly proud of the J.B. Hunt drivers who competed in the Arkansas Trucking Championship this year, and our J.B. Hunt family couldn’t wait to cheer them on at the competition!
J.B. Hunt’s Truck Driver Champions
We are excited to introduce the J.B. Hunt drivers who brought home awards this year! Three drivers placed at the Arkansas Trucking Championship, and one of these drivers will be advancing to the National Truck Driving Championship this August.
Darrell: 3rd in Sleeper Division
Darrell is no stranger to winning these awards and has brought home more than one trophy in his more than two million miles of safe driving with us. We are incredibly proud of his tenure and dedication to safety and excellence!
James: 2nd in 5 Axle
James placed second in a major technical category! His excitement and pride throughout the event was contagious and we couldn’t be prouder to see him take home this award!
Phillip: 1st in 5 Axle
In a rare feat, Phillip was not only the second J.B. Hunt driver to place in the 5 Axle division, but also took home the first-place award! This was Phillip’s first time competing in this championship, which earned him the additional title of “Rookie” for his award. Phillip will advance to the National Truck Driving Championship later this year, and we cannot wait to cheer on the J.B. Hunt drivers who represent us so well.
