What is an intermodal driving job?
Intermodal (JBI) driving jobs consist of drivers transporting freight containers from rail yards to customer locations. The consistency of freight and familiar routes allow drivers to maximize their workday. These benefits and a growing intermodal industry allow J.B. Hunt to offer our employee drivers more home time, shift options, freedom and flexibility.
As the largest company-owned intermodal fleet in North America, J.B. Hunt is the only transportation company in the industry with 100 percent company-owned containers and chassis. Our fleet includes more than 116,000 53’ containers and 100,700 chassis.
Along with company-owned containers and chassis, J.B. Hunt intermodal drivers have access to private express gates, which reduces wait time in the yard and allows drivers to have more time on the road. To maintain a safe and comfortable work environment for our drivers, 80 percent of our intermodal freight is no-touch.
J.B. Hunt’s intermodal drivers can choose from local and regional routes that get them home daily or weekly with 70 percent of our JBI drivers getting home every day. They also enjoy access to comprehensive health benefit offerings including medical, dental and vision as well as life insurance, 401(k) and paid vacation.
