Truck Driving Jobs for Veterans

J.B. Hunt is dedicated to hiring 10,000 Veterans company-wide by 2020. We value your character, ambition and the skills you bring to J.B. Hunt’s jobs and the transportation industry.

Through our distinguished Hunt’s Heroes hiring program and J. B. Hunt’s Department of Labor National Apprenticeship, we hire and train transitioning soldiers and Veterans who have selflessly served to ensure our nation’s freedom and safety. We offer candidates a fast track to a meaningful career by assisting you in your transition and placing you in the driver’s seat of a local or regional CDL A truck driving job or non-CDL driving job.

Join our ranks at J.B. Hunt by searching for a truck driving job in your area or by calling 1-800-207-6097 to learn more.

Qualified Veterans who seek a local non-CDL straight truck driving job within our growing Final Mile division will not be required to attend driving school or receive a CDL A, but will only be required to hold an operator’s license to drive a straight truck.  These candidates will receive paid on-the-job training - installing appliances and equipment into homes and businesses.

Those who choose to pursue a local or regional CDL A trucking job within our Intermodal or Dedicated Contract Services (DCS) divisions will work closely with J.B. Hunt’s military hiring team to attend driving school, receive their Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL A) and gain behind-the-wheel training.
J.B. Hunt’s military hiring team works with Veterans to obtain the licensing and training needed to obtain trucking jobs within our Intermodal, Dedicated Contract Services (DCS) and Final Mile divisions, no matter your driving experience. Learn more about our various trucking jobs for Veterans below.

Local Non-CDL Straight Truck Driving Jobs:
J.B. Hunt’s Final Mile division continues to experience customer growth nationwide, advancing our need for highly skilled and disciplined Veterans who are eager to provide exceptional customer service and efficient home delivery. No experience or commercial driver’s license are required.

A local non-CDL trucking job consists of a delivery installation specialist operating a straight truck and using technical skills to deliver and install appliances, furniture, mattresses, electronics, fitness equipment and many other products into customers’ homes and businesses throughout the country.

J.B. Hunt provides paid on-the-job training so that you can safely and confidently deliver and install items at various locations. As a local delivery installation specialist, you will be home daily and enjoy consistent weekly time off.

Local CDL A Truck Driving Jobs:
Local truck driving jobs within our Intermodal and DCS divisions typically consist of transporting freight from a railway or for a customer account within a 300-mile radius, usually allowing you to complete your deliveries and return home the same day. Our local CDL A trucking jobs involve operating a tractor-trailer, making it necessary for a candidate to attend truck driving school and obtain a Class A license. As a local truck driver, you will be home daily and enjoy consistent weekly time off.

Regional CDL A Truck Driving Jobs:
Regional truck driving jobs within our Intermodal and DCS divisions typically consist of moving freight from a railway or for a customer account within a region that encompasses the surrounding states. A regional driver is usually on the road for five days or more and returns home on a weekly or biweekly basis. Our CDL A regional truck driving jobs involve operating tractor-trailers, requiring one to attend truck driving school and obtain a Class A license.

All company truck drivers enjoy access to comprehensive health benefits offerings including medical, dental and vision as well as life insurance, 401K and paid vacation.

Join our ranks at J.B. Hunt by searching for a truck driving job in your area or by calling 1-800-207-6097 to learn more.

By participating in our 12-month J. B. Hunt National Apprenticeship Program to gain your Class A license and a career in truck driving, you may qualify for G.I. Bill Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) payments from the VA - an educational benefit paid to you in addition to your paycheck. We will assist you in filling out and submitting the required documents to the VA for approval.

Your Driving Experience:
Our Hunt’s Heroes CDL A Program caters to Veterans across all military positions who are interested in pursuing commercial truck driving as their civilian career but do not have military driving experience, while our Military Finisher Program is designed for those who have experience driving heavy equipment during their service time.
“As a delivery specialist, I like that every route is different and the ability to learn with every delivery I do. Not every delivery is the same,” Delivery Installation Specialist Zachary said.

“J.B. Hunt was actively recruiting Veterans,” Hunt’s Heroes local driver David said. “Driving was a perfect fit for me and my other career. If you get deployed for a short period of time, you can hop back in the truck. Being gone has never been an issue.”
