In the trucking industry, the last mile marks the end of a load’s journey to its destination. Deliveries take place at customer locations, such as a house, apartment complex or gym. Drivers not only deliver but also install the freight.
At J.B. Hunt, our Final Mile Services (FMS) jobs are our most active and customer-facing positions. Employee drivers begin each day at the J.B. Hunt office where they receive an assignment from their manager. Once the delivery truck is loaded, drivers head out and make deliveries to customer locations.
These deliveries usually take place during business hours, so most last-mile drivers enjoy a Monday - Friday schedule with weekend time off. There are three job types in our Final Mile Services business unit: Class A, Straight Truck and Delivery Installation Specialists.
Class A drivers operate a tractor-trailer and deliver and install freight at customer locations. A CDL-A license and experience are required. Most FMS CDL-A drivers get home every day.
Straight truck drivers operate a box truck and deliver and install freight at customer locations. No experience or CDL is required.
Delivery Installation Specialists assist during the installation process. No experience or licensing is required.
Final Mile Services employees also enjoy access to comprehensive health benefit offerings including medical, dental and vision as well as life insurance, 401(k) and paid vacation.
A focus on growth and adding customers means we have freight to keep you moving.
With deliveries made in nearly every zip code, drivers can stay close to home.
Since 2009, FMS drivers have made an impact delivering great customer service.
