We take great pride in our drivers and their achievements, and we are thrilled to share that yet another of our drivers has reached a huge milestone, both within our company and the transportation industry at large.
Tony, a regional intermodal driver in Texas, has become the second J.B. Hunt driver to reach five million safe miles driven. For perspective, that is equal to 10 round-trip journeys to the moon, collision-free. To celebrate this incredible moment, we organized a surprise celebration at Tony’s account to honor his commitment to safety and J.B. Hunt.

Five Million Mile Driver Award
Tony has been with J.B. Hunt since 1987 and has consistently raised the bar for himself after each successive million-mile milestone. At J.B. Hunt, we take safety seriously and not only present our million mile drivers with a bonus through our Million Mile Award program, but keep their names permanently etched on our Million Mile Wall at our corporate headquarters.
After his five million milestone, Tony has earned a total of $125,000 in Million Mile Bonuses alone, not counting other bonuses and awards he’s received along the way to this moment.
At his celebration, we surprised Tony with a cheering crowd as he arrived in his truck, complete with banners and balloons. Tony was presented with a check for $50,000, as well as a brand new 2022 Freightliner Cascadia truck. Tony was able to place his new five million decal on the cab of his new truck, showcasing his accomplishments to everyone on the road with him.
In opening remarks for Tony’s ceremony, J.B. Hunt’s senior vice president of safety, Greer Woodruff, spoke of the dedication it takes to achieve this milestone.
“When you think about all the intersections Tony’s driven through, all the rainstorms he’s operated through, all the distracted drivers he’s tried to stay away from, you just have to step back and go ‘wow!’ That’s just an incredible accomplishment,” said Greer. “We just really want you to know that we admire you, and we appreciate you.”
For Tony, being able to celebrate together with his family helped make a moment he won’t forget.
“I’m just excited and happy, and I’m just glad that I accomplished this, you know?” said Tony. “Being out here on the road … you’ve just got to be patient and things will happen. Good things.”
