Since 2013, J.B. Hunt company drivers have helped enrich education through our Adopt-A-Class program. Each year, we ask our company drivers to nominate their child or grandchild’s classrooms, kindergarten through fifth grade, for a chance to receive a school supply donation from J.B. Hunt.
Current J.B. Hunt drivers submit their nominations by sharing a brief message about why their student’s classroom is most deserving. J.B. Hunt then selects the winning nominations and works with the school to deliver their supplies. In 2021, we received more than 200 nominations from our drivers and donated $43,000 in school supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning supplies to use in the classroom.
J.B. Hunt regional intermodal driver, Ray, nominated his daughter’s third-grade teacher, Mrs. Ruff, to be one of the Adopt-A-Class recipients. “I nominated Mrs. Ruff because she deserves it and because I have huge respect for what she does,” he said. “I’m so thankful for her. Especially at this time, during the pandemic.”
Learning her classroom was nominated was an emotional moment for Mrs. Ruff. “I think J.B. Hunt sponsoring a program like Adopt-A-Class is awesome. I’m super excited to be nominated, and then to win money for my classroom is great,” she said. “I cried, so I’m excited!”
