We are incredibly proud to celebrate the J.B. Hunt drivers who competed in the 2024 Arkansas Trucking Championship. This year, 15 J.B. Hunt drivers from our Intermodal, Dedicated Contract Services® and Final Mile Services® business units arrived at our corporate headquarters for a week of training and practice before competing in the state competition.
In addition to the drivers representing us, we were excited to welcome six maintenance technicians to our first year competing in the Arkansas Technician Championship. Keep reading to learn about the competition and awards for these J.B. Hunt driver champions!
How do drivers qualify for the National Truck Driving Competition?
In order to compete in the National Truck Driving Championship, drivers must be selected as winners in eligible state competitions held across the country. These drivers must also have had a safe driving record for the last year. If chosen as state winners, drivers will advance to the national competition and have the opportunity to be named a national champion.
This year, we invited 15 J.B. Hunt drivers from throughout the country to compete in our home state and be cheered on by our northwest Arkansas employees. All of our J.B. Hunt drivers competing in the Arkansas Truck Driving Championship this year have driven thousands of safe miles, with many having driven millions of safe miles throughout their career.

James: 2nd in Flatbed Division
James has driven almost three million safe miles with us, and is not a stranger to winning awards at driving championships. We are incredibly proud of his career and accomplishments.
Chad: 3rd in 5 Axle Division
Chad’s enthusiasm for the competition and support of his fellow drivers was evident throughout the event! He has placed in the 5 Axle division before, and we are extremely proud of his skill and dedication to safe driving.
