What is a Regional Truck Driving Job?

A regional truck driving job typically consists of moving freight within a region that encompasses the surrounding states. A regional driver is usually on the road for five days or more and returns home on a weekly or biweekly basis. Company regional truck drivers enjoy access to comprehensive health benefit offerings including medical, dental and vision as well as life insurance, 401K and paid vacation.
Regional truck drivers enjoy the balance of life on the road and having consistent home time. With weekly or bi-weekly time off, regional opportunities offer a combination of driving duties and time to spend with family and on activities outside the cab. Regional truck driving jobs are available nationwide within our Dedicated Contract Services and Intermodal fleets.

J.B. Hunt’s Dedicated Contract Services (DCS) division provides companies with an array of equipment, technology and systems custom designed to meet their toughest transportation and logistics challenges. As one of the world’s largest dedicated contract carriers, J.B. Hunt has plenty of freight to keep you moving.

Regional DCS J.B. Hunt jobs offer a more predictable schedule with job duties that may include operating a variety of equipment - flatbed, traditional van, reefer, curtain side, doubles and live haul. Within DCS, drivers find predictability in their routes, customer interactions and work duties and enjoy strong freight and competitive pay.

J.B. Hunt’s Intermodal division offers more traditional driving duties - transporting freight containers from rail yards to customer locations. As an industry leader in intermodal, we have over 84,000 containers and our own chassis pool, as well as private speed gates at a number of facilities for efficient service.

Through our Hunt’s Heroes military hiring program, we offer DCS and Intermodal regional trucking jobs to qualified Veterans and transitioning service members, no matter their driving experience. Since many have served away from home and their loved ones for long periods of time, regional jobs give Veterans the home time that they want.

J.B. Hunt offers regional CDL A driving jobs in many metro areas such as Dallas, Chicago, Milwaukee and Portland, as well as smaller cities such as Marshfield, Wis., Harrisburg, Pa., and Shelbyville, Tenn. Regional truck driving jobs in these areas and other areas nationwide, open and close frequently. Check our truck driving job search engine for an up-to-date listing of current openings.

“I like driving for the account I’m on now, they are really friendly and take care of you. I’m not another number,” regional DCS driver Abraham explained. “I like working for J.B. Hunt.”

“I like getting up every day and I’m going somewhere different, like the military. I can’t go to the same job, same place every day. It makes me happy to do what I do,” regional DCS driver James said.

“I like the fact that I’m my own boss. I make my own rules, no one bugging me all the time. I like the freedom,” regional Hunt’s Heroes driver Phillip said. “The pay is good. It’s really good, especially when talking to other drivers.”
