J.B. Hunt Truck Drivers Deliver School Supplies: Adopt-a-Class 2014

We are excited to share this year’s Adopt-a-Class roundup! We doubled the number of classrooms and doubled our budget, resulting in 10 classrooms across the country receiving more than $10,000 in supplies.

From California to New York, teachers and students were showered with gifts and pizza parties during the months of August and September.

Teachers and schools requested everything from packs of pencils and paper, to iPads and fully-furnished reading centers.

The program allowed not only drivers to be involved in their child’s school, but many managers traveled to join in the festivities too.

“It was one of the best experiences I have had with J.B. Hunt over the last nine years I have been here,” said Traci K., a manager who traveled to Niagara Falls, N.Y., to join a driver as he delivered the supplies.

Managers and drivers alike were excited about the good things happening.

“It was the most awesome experience in all of my years,” said driver Dianne S., who traveled to Frametown, W. Va., to visit her grandchildren’s school.

Driver Ricky S., who delivered gifts to Drummonds, Tenn., said his nephew was excited when he found out his uncle would be delivering gifts and pizza to his kindergarten classroom.

“I’m honored that J.B. Hunt does this for kids across the country – really honored that Alex got picked to be one out of 10 for this,” Ricky said. “I think it’s really awesome.”

Ricky said it’s about more than just delivering gifts, though. It’s important for the kids to know how their food and clothes get to a store, he said.

“It’s really exciting for the kids because they don’t really get to see these trucks,” Ricky said. “They get to see them going down the road, but they don’t see firsthand what they look like on the inside.”

Driver Dianne said she had so much fun at the event that she’d like to do it again when the kids are older.

“Just to see those teachers, kids and parents, I was just so excited for them,” she said. “It was like Christmas for the kids.”

Do you have a little one who would enjoy a truck tour, pizza party and gifts for their classroom? Keep an eye out for next year’s event!

  1. What an inspiration our J.B. Hunt Gives Back Program is, as an almost 10yr employee of J.B. Hunt I could not be prouder of the team I am a part of. I have the privelage on a daily basis of interacting with drivers and Managers and personnel of all levels. It warms my heart and fills me with pride, to look at all the good our company does for people across the country. I am proud to say I am part of the J.B. Hunt Family.
